puppy update

So sorry for not updating sooner. I have had several emails and calls to find out if all is ok.

We had 5 pups born. 3 girls and 2 boys. I was surprised because Sadie looked bigger then last year and last year she had 7. Looks like sadie may have enjoyed eating for several

The reason I have not updated is one of the little girls is not doing so well and all my energy has been spent looking after her. I have had her under my shirt keeping her warm or sitting with her while she is nursing frm Sadie. Hard to type with one hand and my mind has been occupied with her.
The other 4 are little monsters and are already pushing and shoving to eat from what must be the only nipple Sadie has !! Right now they look like a big pile vying for the best spot.
So please keep little pink girl in your thoughts and prayers.

Here are the first pictures of the newborns. They are big and healthy and very vigorous. Both girls weighed 1 1/4 lbs.
They are both nursing well too. Sadie is taking a break and I am sure we will have lots more pictures to come

Sadie update

 

 

Here are some pictures of Sadie. One from yesterday outside and her in the whelping box today. She is in the beginning stages of labor. Her temperature has dropped and she was resting very quietly. She did not want to walk to the barn with me today which is something she always does. Instead she stayed up by the gate and her teeth were chattering a little and she was anxious and wanted to go into the house.

She is laying in the whelping box and getting more and more uncomfortable

Sadie

Sadie is such a wonderful girl. She has listened to me so far. I asked her nicely to wait until after the store was closed for the week :-) She did. She is being very quiet and is sleeping a lot. For some reason I was sure tomorrow was her due date. Jan (Monty's Mom) called me today to let me know that the pregnancy calendar had her due on Thursday the 14th !! So if that is the case we are due next Thursday. I hope she has them sooner would make it much easier for me time wise :-) I dont think I get the option though.

Sadie looks like she is about to pop though. She would make a dairy farmer very happy. This is where talking about nipples is ok lol. They are huge and I wonder how the pups will manage .

No new pictures yet but maybe I will take a picture of her in the morning.

Monty our upcoming litters dad

 

 

 

Monty (Rekileijonan Baldur) Is the father of our upcoming litter with Sadie. He is also the father of my 14 month old pups. I do not usually do a repeat breeding but I loved the way these pups turned out so much and did not know of any other male who could meet my criteria available so I chose him again.

He is the father of my Emma who is the sweetest girl and also she has a wonderful conformation and has done amazing in the show ring. All the pups are beautiful ,big and have wonderful temperments. To me the temperment is so important.

Soon the pups will be born so thought it was time to show pictures of dad :-)

Happy New Year !!

Hope your holidays were amazing. All of us at Heronview enjoyed the hustle and Bustle but the best part was the few restful days afterwards

We are resting as much as we can now. Sadie is due to have her pups in 10 days. Wow that just seemed to fly. I guess having Christmas took so much time and energy. Now it will all be about Sadie and getting ready for the birth of the pups !!
