Just want to let everyone know that Mr Blue boy has a wonderful home and lucky him he has another leo and a caviler to play with. He was spoken for less then 24 hours after I decided the home waiting for him was not the right one.

It is so quiet with no puppies here :-( I do have 3 coming to visit me tomorrow. This is where being grannie is the best !

I have a male puppy available from the Kramer and Emma litter. He was supposed to go to his new home on Tuesday . When the puppy parent arrived there was a few things that did not sit right with me. So I listened to my gut feeling and never sent the puppy homes with them.

As you can see they are Growing ! I usually wait till they are 3 1/2 weeks to start feeding them. They started nursing more often and were taking a lot out of Emma. 12 mouths to feed is a lot. I started giving them a milk mixture on Thursday. goats milk , yogurt ,a bit of buttermilk and rice pablum to thicken it up . They love it and are sleeping and more satisfied so can go longer in beteen feedings. Today I added a bit of tripe. They are so sweet and snuggly. They are walking and playing. Soon they will have teeth ouch ! I am pleased that we already have a few over 5lbs. Surprised because there are so many of them.

Look at the change a week makes. Our little red girl has more then doubled her weight. She was 1lb at birth and now weighs 2 1/4lb we have 3 boys at 4lb and the rest between 3 and 4lb

Wow a week has passed already. As you can see they are growing ! I am surprised at how big they are considering there are 12 pups and we are not supplementing them. This is all Emma. What a girl. She is eating 5 - 6lbs of food a day right now and will probably incrase as they demand more. I am loving the snuggles :-)

What a difference a week makes. The first picture was taken last Monday after all the pups were born and thhe second picture was taken today. Most have put on 8-12 oz. Pretty good in less then a week

Emma is such a wonderful mom. She is a jersey cow she has so much rich milk ! The pups are putting on a few ounces a day. We have 4 already over 2 lbs and most are just shy by 1 - 2 oz !

Look how sweet they are. Be prepared to either be in heaven with so many pictures or bored to tears lol. They are really great babies and Emma is an amazing mom. Emma and I are both sleep deprived. She is nursing 12 and I have seperated them into 2 groups of 6. This way everyone has a chance to eat well. In 24 hrs all pups put on weight. That is great considering the size of the litter

On Sunday September 11th Emma gave birth to 12 beautiful Leo puppies. They are huge considering there are 12 of them. We have 4 that were 1lb 8oz and 7 who are 1lb 4oz. One smaller girl of a pound. They are now 24 hrs old and already their collars feel a bit snug. ! I have not weighed them because after being up more then 24 hours I dont think my eyes could focus on the scale. I have them seperated into 2 groups of 6. Oh there are 6 boys and 6 girls ! Emma is a fabulous mom and thankfully here milk is already in and the pups are satisfied. Sadie so wants to help and I know she would try and nurse them. She lays beside the whelping box all the time. I am sleeping (haha) in the whelping room with them and get up to switch them every hour.

I took more pictures today and will update the blog as much as possible. So keep checking back for new pictures

IT has been so long since I posted. Sorry as so much has gone on here. For now lets start with the exciting news. Emma and Kramer are having a litter ! Emma is due on September 14th so only 1 more week to go. She is 6 and 7 weeks in these pictures. She looks pretty big. I will keep the blog hopping with pictures when she has them. It has not slowed her down at all.

Whenever we have kittens Sadie is right there sniffing and licking them from the beginning. They in turn love her. She is the one they run too and play with and as you can see find a way to cuddle with her. I saw them like this today and was so happy I was able to catch the moment

I find it amazing how much the kittens are attracted to Sadie, They like the other dogs but adore her. This little one was playing with her ear and licking her face. As you can see Sadie loves them too :-) So sweet I had to share

Kramer always cracks me up. Yesterday was no exception. I gave everyone a Windpipe and they all eagerly ran outside and ate it. Well all except Kramer. He waited until the girls ate theirs. Sat like this for 15 minutes. When they were done then he ate his while they all watched. I guess living with 4 woman you grab what little bit of power you have lol

The pups are all settled in their new homes. It has been quiet here and the first day after the babies left all my dogs slept the entire day lol. You would think the pups tired them out or something.

I love this video. It is Kramer playing with little blue boy. His new name is Meiko. Kramer loves him. He left for his new home yesterday. I miss him he was my little man and even though I kow he is in a wonderful home it was hard to let him go. I think 5 leonbergers are enough though :-)

It was a lovely day today so I took the pups outside to play. The ducks like to come up for some treats everyday. The pups chased them but never hurt them. Momma duck certainly let them know she was not happy. I think I owe the ducks big time so extra treats tomorrow. Have a good laugh

The pups have gone on the back deck but today 3 of them wanted out the side door. The other 2 were asleep so I let the 3 out. The ducks were up by the house because they like to come up for a snack of cat food. These ducks were hatched late September so still quite young. Their mom is still with them and wont take any crap from anyone. The pups thought they were pretty interesting. As you can see they certainly got the hint when momma duck said close enough. Can you imagine what was going through their pretty little heads. Sadly they were not hesitant outside which meant chasing them everywhere. Will be easier keeping them in the back yard with a fence lol

Emma's OFA results

I am so thrilled to have gotten Emma's OFA hip results yesterday. Heronviews Exotic Dancer AKA Emma was given an excellent rating for hips. Certainly give testament of good breeding and the raw diet. Emma is second generation Heronview. Her mom Heronviews Dirty Dancer AKA Sadie is also my breeding.

Emma has passed all her health tests and has her Canadian Championship. She was only shown a few times as a pup and was number 5 Leonberger in Canada with an invitation to the Eukanuba National in California. We of course never went to CA as it is a little far

The pups are little dogs now. So fun and love to play. They also love to chew on you and yep those teeth are very very sharp !!

Yes one of them is chewing on a chicken foot. They are great chew treats for them. They love that they can pick them up and carry them around.

Look at how much of a big baby daddy Kramer is. He is never going to grow up and that makes me very happy. I hope we have some permament pups in this group. Little blue boy is certainly a smarty pants. He has figured out to push the big ball around. He also loves to climb all over Savannah and chew on her. Such a cutie.

The pups are so tired after all the Christmas fun lol.Everyone playing with them. Today they were just as playful. i will upload more christmasy pictures of them later today. I hope everyone had a special Christmas. To all the future parents of these pups. Dont worry after today I will upload lots and lots of pictures. It has been a trying month. The renos , the store and Christmas has sucked up anytime I had. So back to normal tomorrow :-)

Pups are 4 weeks old. The time is going by so fast. They are all doing well. It has been hard to keep up with the blog with everything going on around here. Major renovations really cramp your style ! No official puppy pictures because there was no place to take them properly. This week will be tough because of Christmas. Which means bombarding everyone with pictures after the holidays !
They are so funny now. Really little dogs. Brave and adventurous. They dont think the puppy room is big enough for them anymore. So prefer to join us in the family room. They come out run around then crash all over. They have chosen to sleep on the cool tile floors instead of all the blankets I keep for them. Silly puppies. If we have some nice weather next week I will let them go outside. That should be fun !

They are now landsharks in practice. Their teeth are coming in and they want to mouth you. Does not hurt now. Give it another week or two and it will be official. They will graduate to landsharks. I dont like laying on the floor so much with them then.

They are growing and changing so much every day. Their personalities are really starting to show now. They weigh from 3lbs !! Yay blue boy has been really growing now. To 7 lbs.

They are eating more variety now. They have had boneless chicken and chicken with bone , turkey , beef , lamb ,duck and tripe. They had chicken necks today to chew on. They mostly lick them and chew on them a bit. No real meal for them yet.

with the renovations we never set up the whelping box hoping that the reno's would be done before they were running around lol. Well they want to go down the hall and anywhere they can. They will be moving downstairs to the puppy room tomorrow. I have them in Eddie's bedroom now. I am still sleeping their room. After they move I will go back to my bed. Thank goodness they play and whine to much during the night !!

Well who would not love a meal of Chicken , tripe and goats milk !! They love it ad left nothing for mom. Well I guess in a way they did. They wore it and she cleaned them. I think she got a full meal. Afterwards they are so full they curl up and moan for awhile. Then sleep. Pigs not dogs is what they are. Enjoy the pictures I have a video uploading as I write. The pups are 2 weeks old today. I can see the glimmer of an eye. By Monday all eyes will be open. Now the fun begins :-) They are so much more mobile in just the last couple of days.

Here are a few pictures. If you look close you can see the eyes slightly open. They really all have such different personalities. You might think that their personalities don't show up so soon but they do. Enjoy the pictures. Hopefully they wont all be of their butts or sleeping from now on

I love the picture of little blue boy and my kitty. The kitten is totally enthralled with the pups. I have been supplementing blue boy and he sits and watches him eat. He has batted at his tail :-) I put him down and blue boy crawled over and right onto him negwan ( dont ask my son named him ) rolled over purring. He looked so happy to cuddle.

I saw the glint of an eye last night. Their eyes will be open before the weekend is finished. Man that was a fast 2 weeks

As you can see from the pictures the pups are growing and thriving. Little blue boy is still tiny but he is fiesty. I am still supplementing him with a goats milk mixture and he loves it. Sadie is such a wonderful mom and wants to clean them all the time.

The other dogs want so much to be with them but all Sadie needs to do is give them a look and they all back up lol. Keep looking back and I will keep posting pictures

The pups are now a week old. It was a long week trying to get the little guy to a safe weight. He is almost 1 lb now and a feisty little boy. He leaves his mom and crawls over to where I sleep looking for me. I am the one who feeds him inbetween. He likes the goat milk mixture lol

Announcing the puppies of Sadie and Kramer.

Sadie had 7 little leolettes last Friday. We have had a bit of a rough beginning and have lost 2 of the babies. I still have 2 very tiny pups. One is 1/2 lb and one almost 3/4. Considering my puppies range from 1lb - 1 1/2 lbs at birth this is small. The little guy dropped to 1/4 lf a pound but is back up to 1/2 lb now. I have been monitoring their weight and making sure they do not become cold or dehydrated. I have been supplementing mom with some homemade formula . I am not using a bottle as for me they take so long and I dont have good luck with them. The pups seem to be able to choke easier
I have been tubing him. I put a very small tube into his belly. Gets right in and no choking.

Mom is doing great and as usual a fantastic mom. Kramer cant understand why he cant be in the whelping room all he wants to do is sniff and lick them

Sadie has her Championship

Sunday October 31 I took 3 of the pooches ( Kramer, Sadie and Emma) to the Trillium dog show in Lindsay. Sadie took winners bith and finished her CH. It was a long time coming as I only showed sadie a handful of times and she won her classes almost every time. She was only beat in the ring by her daughter Emma and I think once by Heidi. She has won over CH males and been in some big classes earning her 3 points at a time. But having puppies would keep her out of the ring for several months at a time. I am happy to say she is now Champion Heronviews Dirty Dancer. But she has always been a Champion in my heart

Kramers Birthday was on Saturday October 30th. I could not take pictures because my camera died and I could not find my battery charger. I had my friend take pictures on Sunday of Kramer. Only got a couple but he is such a sweet handsome boy

Kramer passed his Canine good neighbor test on Sunday. Not that I was surprised as he is such a mellow wonderful Leonberger. So now he can sport the title CGN after his name. What a guy. Handsome and sweet! What mroe can you ask for.

He did this at the Leonberger Club of Canada fun day ( leopalooza) I will send some more pictures from the day later. What a blast 40 leos playing together !

This Sunday (September 12th) Is our annual leo fun day. The dogs and people have a blast. I wanted to post it on my blog incase you are interested in attending. There will be around 30 leonbergers there. Which is so much fun. We have a potluck lunch and a silent auction
If you are interested in getting a CGN on your dog then please let me know as we will be having evaluations at the event. Plus carting demonstrations. It is a great day and I hope to hear from some of you that you can make it

Kawartha Kennel club show

On July 5th I took the dogs to the Peterborough dog show. It was damn hot too. 40 degrees out. I was going to cancel but we were in at 10:30 am so though we could deal with it. Then afterwards I knew we would take them to the lake swimming. It is their reward for having to be clean and pretty lol. All my hours of grooming gone within 1/2 hr of showing :-) But then they are happy dogs again.

Emma went BOB but because she is already a Champion the points are given to the best dog in the regular classes. Heidi had those honors and went Best of winners for a 2 point win ! A great day but the last show for us until the fall. I dont think it is fun for the dogs to have to show in the heat. We would rather swim and camp in the summer

Leonberger club of Canada Booster

Yes I know I have gotten a little :-) beind on blogging. We do not do a lot of shows because of my raw food store. lus I dont like to make the dogs show in the heat of the summer. One June 13th the LCC had their booster at the Orono dog show. We had 12 Leonbergers entered and several more people came with their pooches to cheer us on.
The LCO had their booster the day before on Saturday and Heronviews Canadian Beau was BOW and got enough points to finish his LCA championship !! Congratulations to Linda who came all the way from Illinois to show .

Sunday was another great day for the Heronview gang. Darcy who is a 3 year old son of Sadie was Best of Breed for the second year in a row !! Sadies 19 month old daughter Emma was Best of opposite Meaning she was the best of the females. Plus Emma got her Canadian Championship at this show. I am so proud of my pups they did so well. A few random shots from yesterday. As you can see Heidi is enjoying their new pool. She is also having a staredown with Sushi. As usual Sushi knows she will win lol

Kramer is chilling out after his playtime in the pool and enjoying a nice snack of alpaca poo. Yum !! I spent some time with the donkeys laying in the field with them. Kira loves to snuggle and my dog hating donkeys ( so I'm told ) seems to like Sadie. All my animals intermingle and get along. The dogs and donkeys and horses,alpacas ducks and cats. No issues with any of them. I love that I lay in a field and will have dogs and Alpacas and donkeys surrounding me

There are 3 woman who for whatever reason have a problem. I am not going to say with me because I have nothing to do with them just that we have the same breed of dogs. They are sending around a letter with 1/2 truths and outright slander. I will be addressing this with the CKC and legally

I am not sure whether I should be concerned or flattered that they have felt it necassary to keep and find information about me that spans about 10 years. From twisting my methods for helping someone to accusing me of stealing money !! If anyone sees this letter and has any questions please contact me. It is so nice to see how well the puppies are doing. I love seeing them so happy. Molly came for a visit on Saturday and she looks so nice. It was great to get a big kiss from her. The other dogs goes crazy when a pup comes for a visit. I think it is pretty overwhelming to the pups though.

Wow it seems as the pups got older the less time I had to blog. :-) I took so many pictures of them being cute that I could not chose just a few to show off so now I have so many. I will upload them to an album and share. Yes they were cute when very young but nothig is as cute as 7 and 8 week old Leonberger pups !! All but one puppy has gone to their new homes. From the updates I have gotten they are settling in well and being very loved !! At 8 weeks they ranged from 20 lbs for little fushia girl to 24 pounds for the other 3. Tomorrow Red girl goes to her home and we will be sad to have no babies to play with. She is 36 pounds now the little bruiser. I am including some pictures of her

She looks sweet but as you will see is a little pest. She torments the big dogs who are saints to put up with her antics. Her favorite thing to do is play tug of was with their tails. We are always pulling hair out of her mouth lol. Enjoy the few pictures and I will also try and keep up

Yummy Chicken feet

As you can see the pups are loving their snack of chicken feet.All of my dogs are raw fed. This also includes the puppies. They eat everything the adults eat. We also give the raw goats milk. This includes the homemade kefir I make for them from it. They love their food and I love that they dont smell and their poops are tiny little tootsie rolls :-)

We feel that natural nutritions is the best way to raise any animal. Afterall Dogs are carnivores and do not need grains in their diet.

Ok they are now officially land sharks and working their way up to ankle biters !! OUCH !! They love love being outside playing in the snow. They have no fear of the big dogs and try and join in their play too.
I am so impressed at how easy these guys are to house break. They mostly go outside or on the paper. Hardley anything at all to clean up. Then again being raw fed puppies they have nice little tootsie roll poops :-)
They eat well and have done great on everything. They have had chicken , turkey, lamb , beef , duck, tripe and tongue . Plus much more. Next wednesday they will have their tattoos done. Sadly they are getting older and I only have 2 more weeks to enjoy my little furballs.

Today all 4 came over to my store. The customers loved them and I spent most of the time taking things out of their mouth lol. They played then crashed !!

I missed a whole week of pictures. I was so busy getting ready for a pet trade show and had a booth for my raw pet food store. So something had to give and it was the blog :-) This past week the pups have grown and also gotten very active. They are going outside and playing with the big dogs too. I am having so much fun with them. They like to chew on you so we are in the land shark stage !! They are wonderful at using the newspapers and not making mistakes all over. my wonderful feisty four

Look at these little monsters. they just keep growing. They are so much fun now. They run around and play and wrestle with each other. The growling and wrestling is so funny. They play with the big dogs and of course they let the pups win. They have had a lot of visitors and I am checking pockets and purses to make sure no pups are leaving :-)
This morning when I let the big dogs out the little ones followed and went outside too lol. They looked at the snow and I expected them to hightail it back inside. Nope they wanted to explore and eat some snow.
They are such sweet cuddly pups. Blue is the one who wants to kiss my face all the time he is also pretty brazen and just has to get into everything. Green boy is such a clown and so cuddly. He likes to lay in your arms like a baby. Having his belly rubbed while he is in your arms is a favorite of his. Red girl is funny and very vocal. She lets you know how she is feeling. She likes being picked up and gets quite annoyed if you do not pick her up the moment she asks. then she has to lick your face !! Fushia girl is the clown of the bunch. She is the one who grabs the toys and runs with them. She is the one who has tried to climb on Kramers mouth. She is also very vocal. She cries and whines when she is trying to go to sleep. I think she is fighting sleep and gets annoyed that she cant. All 4 of the pups are super cuddly and maybe just maybe I am spoiling them with so much time and attention. Hey they are only this little for such a short time . Why the heck not !!

Petpalooza come and have fun

Petpalooza is a Pet Trade show. There will be lots of vendors and also demonstrations throughout the day. I will be having a booth there for Heronview Raw and Natural. We will have lots of yummy dehydrated treats and toys plus information on raw food and hopefully answer all your questions and help with your concerns. Best of all entrance is free and it is for a good cause. To raise money to build a new Animal shelter in Pickering. Please drop by and say Hi if you go.

As you can see some are more co operative then others lol. I will send the out takes also . I think the pups look great. Then again I am their human mom !!

The pups are very busy and like to play with the big dogs. They run around my house like they own it !1 They are pretty good already at using the newspaper. They love their meals and have had lots of different things. They really like chunks of meat now instead of always ground. they even liked the fish. They are still nursing from mom too but if they keep biting her I think that will stop soon !! Ouch

If the weather stays ok I will let them go outside for a few minutes next week. Best of all they are still cuddly and dont bite to hard. That will change as their jaws get stronger. Then they will be true landsharks

I have been so busy the past few days no time to blog. I have taken lots and lots of pictures though :-) I will put more of them in the pups photo album and send the link. Sadie thought I was taking to long to give these guys something to eat. So she brought in some of her heart and gave it to the pups. As you will see they were VERY interested . I got the message and started them on Goats milk pablum tonight. I will start adding ground chicken or beef in a couple of days.

So much going on here this week I could not find the time to download the pictures of the pups then upload them :-)
The pictures were taken at 3 weeks and even a couple of days later they have changed so much. Today Sadie took a piece of heart she was eating and gave it to the pups. they went crazy. I think that was a hint to feed them. Although I would usually start them with goats milk :-)

So tonight they will have some goats milk to start. They have teeth now and it wont be long until they actually bite with them !! I have a video and some pictures of them eating the heart. Well not really eating but they are trying to eat it :-)

They play now and growl and bite each other. Using the news paper in the whelping box is getting more frequent. They know me and want to sleep in my arms or my lap . It is so nice :-) Enjoy the pictures and I will try and get more of the pictures in my online Picasa album

Happy Birthday Heidi.

Heidi is my goofy girl. She is always up for a game of spit head and body slam. This girl plays hard and can make most of the boys run behind mom for a break lol. She talks and sings and just has too much to say lol. She loves to sit in your lap ok she takes over your body .

Heidi loves everyone. She has not met any animal or human she does not like. If another dogs growls at her she tries harder to be friends. She is so silly

3 weeks today and trying to eat moms meat !!!

This has been a big week for the little ones. They can see now and hear too. They recognize me and get very excited when I come to sit with them. Crawl in my lap and go to sleep. They like me to pick them up but want to lick my face a lot :-) I can feel teeth coming through now and it wont be long before Sadie does not want to be with them all the time.

A big change is they can pee and poo on thier own and are looking for a place to go. So I have wee wee pads and newspapers at one side of the whelping box. They do go and use them . Sometimes :-) They are trying out their voices and bark and growl while playing with each other. That is so funny to watch. They go to attack each other and it is a delayed reaction lol. The other pup is usually gone before the attack actually happens.

So wondering if I should start them on my goat milk mixture or leave it for 4 weeks because there are only 4 pups. Well as you can see Blue boy is ready to move onto meat !! He also got a taste of Sadies desert. Frozen fruit, She loves frozen fruit. Peaches,pinapple etc, So I throw a handful in with her dinner.

now the real work begins. Feeding and cleaning poop. Guess what I will be doing for the next few weeks.!!!

Every day the pups are doing more and more. In this picture blue boy is playing with moms ear. They are now looking for somewhere to go to the bathroom. I have wee wee pads down and they do go there sometimes. I was haooy to see twice now they crawled over to me to cuddle and are looking at me and licking my face and chewing on my nose. So so cute. I have more videos to upload and will get to it. Enjoy

Heronview Leonbergers Red girl 2 weeks

Seeing as I can only upload 4 pictures for each blog and I only have 4 pups. I am doing one section for each pup. I will have 4 pictures and a video of each of the puppies. I will also add more pictures to my picasa web album.

Red girl is 3 lbs at 2 weeks. She is the quietest and most snuggly right now, Although last night she was making lots of noises. Growling and little baby barks. They are trying out their voices. When everyone is scrambling to get to mom she will still be sleeping then will stretch and groan and THEN realize she might miss out on something and then wants to eat NOW lol. Everyday is an adventure and brings something new. I just love sitting in the whelping box watching them and of course snuggling with them. I will enjoy it now before they have teeth !!

Blue boy

Blue boy is another cuddle bug. I guess they all are. Well they have no choices :-) I hold them and tickle them and kiss them all day. It is so cute how they crawl over to me and sleep next to me now.He is a big boy @ 3lb. Blue boy was up close and personal with Kramer and Emma while i was taking pictures. Fushia girl is a vocal and if she wants to eat and Sadie is not there when she wakes up we all know it !! Her eyes are open and she is starting to interact. Yesterday she crawled over to me and cuddled. I picked her up and she actually was trying to play. She nibbled on my finger and on her paws. She was so cute. She weighs 2 3/4 lb at 2 weeks

just a few random shots. I cant believe how big they are getting. They walk around and their eyes are open. Sadly they can poo and pee without any help from mom :-( She keeps everything clean still but I know the time will be coming where my real work begins soon. Cleaning poop and feeding them repeat.

The babies are 2 weeks old today. Tomorrow I will get their 2 week pictures organized and loaded. I think you will be amazed at the change in all of them from last week. Weights are good all around the 3lb mark now

what a difference a day makes

today I see eyes !! not all the way open but they have eyes :-) plus they are actually walking. in less then 24 hours they became puppies. Their ears are getting bigger and I can notice them reacting to some noises.
The pups are so funny. If I tickle their necks it looks like they are laughing. they do it everytime. Stick their tongues out and look like they are laughing. You can see it in the picture

Heidi and Kramer are so fascinated with the pups. They uses a visit from Auntie Marilyn as an excuse to sit in her lap and get closer to the pups lol. All the dogs tried to sit in Marilyns lap at the same time to get closer to the pups. Emma is very excited about her new brothers and sisters and wanted to lick them but mom said NO so Emma left and laid on my bed !! What a suck.

Another week and I can sleep in my own bed oh I am looking forward to that !! Oh ya Sushi is so silly she kept sneaking over the side of the box to watch the puppies

I had written a nice long post yesterday along with the pictures but it would not upload so lost all I had written !!
The pups are getting bigger and are 2lbs now. Today I was laying with the pups and noticed a shimmer. I looked closer and pink girls has a tiny slit in her eyelids. Her eyes are openeing !! Oh this is just going to go to fast for me !!

Their nails were getting do sharp and I am sure it did not feel good to Sadie. So I ground their nails today. I use a dremel. It was a lot easier then trying to use nail clippers.

I take a lot of pictures but can only put 4 photos at a time on my blog. So am including a link to the online album with more pictures. I will keep uploading to the album but will include the link each time on here.

You will see pictures of Kramer and Heidi with a pup too in these pictures. They look shocked lol. Kramer was so gentle with the pup.
